Every number on the globe and in the market reports is an official statistic or a calculation from one. This page says which, and how.
Each live category is measured by the HS codes of the products listed under it in our catalogue — six-digit codes where the product has one, otherwise four. A code already covered by a shorter one is counted once.
Some six-digit headings mean far more internationally than the product in our catalogue, and are left out. Example: 3004.90 is all packaged medicines; Ayurvedic products only separate at India's eight-digit level, which international data does not carry.

It is not a forecast and not advice. Four ingredients, all from the annual data:
The market's imports, on a log scale from a floor ($1M for all categories together, $100K for a single category) up to the largest importer. Log, so a $10B market does not drown out a $500M one.
Compound annual growth of the market's total imports between the first and latest years of the annual data. −5% a year or worse scores nothing; +20% a year or better scores in full. Markets too small to measure fairly (under $250K at the start) get a neutral 30%.
How much of the market India does not yet supply: full marks at a 0% share, nothing at 50% or more. Where India has no recorded supply at all, this scores a neutral 50% rather than full marks — absence can mean a tariff, a standard or a ban, so check access rules first.
Growth of India's own sales into the market. −10% a year or worse scores nothing; +30% or better scores in full; too small to measure scores a neutral 30%.
A score is only shown where the market imports at least $250K of the category. The same calculation is used on the globe, the category reports and the country reports, so a market's score is the same wherever it appears.
